Greenway Equipment Provides New Scholarships for ASU
Here at Greenway Equipment, we love supporting our community. One major way we have been able to do that is by encouraging and contributing to students pursuing agriculture over the years. Last month, we committed $115,000 to establish two additional scholarships in the Arkansas State University College of Agriculture.
That commitment, which we also made in 2014, created Greenway Agriculture Systems Technology scholarships. These scholarships are in addition existing ones that were previously created. New Greenway Crop Production and Agronomic Services minor scholarships were created as well.
Agriculture is different today than it used to be; well, at least the way we go about it is different. Here in Arkansas and Missouri, crop production can be a pretty complicated science to master. You have to be familiar with all the traditional topics like plants and soils, but that’s not even close to the whole story. If you want to study modern agriculture, you have to be knowledgeable about digital agriculture, including precision ag and data analytics.
The Greenway scholarships we provide to ASU allow the school to recruit outstanding pupils that will be enthusiastic and educated to thrive in such a data-centric field.
The Greenway scholarships we provide will assist ASU in drawing in students with the math and science background necessary to be successful in the Agriculture Systems Technology program, while providing low-income students better access to their educational and career goals.
The Greenway Agriculture Systems Technology Scholarship will be awarded over four years to incoming freshmen who declare a major in Agricultural Studies with an emphasis in Agricultural Systems Technology. This scholarship has a total of $10,000. Transfer students will be eligible for half the amount. Students that receive the Greenway Crop Production and Agronomic Services minor scholarships will receive $1,500 after successfully completing the first nine hours of minor coursework, and up to $3,500 once all of their minor requirements are completed. All scholarships will be awarded by the Dean of the College of Agriculture based on the criteria. For more information about these scholarships, contact Dr. Timothy Burcham — Dean of the College of Agriculture at ASU.
