Top 5 AMS Issues
The topics listed below are the five issues that we receive the most questions about. Although minor, these can lead to problems in your daily operations. Therefore, we provide solutions to each in order to keep you up and running in the field. And as always, please contact a Greenway Product Support team member for additional questions and solutions.
1. Diminished satellite availability
Problem: There may be specific times during your day that AutoTrac is inaccurate or stops working all together. During certain times of the year, it seems to happen every day at roughly the same time.
Solution: Currently, there is no solution to this problem. The satellites follow a predetermined route that is out of the public’s control. There will be times when certain satellites are taken out of solution for repairs causing a “hole” in the coverage. Under normal circumstances, it will only take a few minutes (10-15) in order for more satellites to come online and correct the problem.
2. Consistent wide and narrow rows
Problem: While planting or bedding, there are consistent wide and narrow rows for the length of the field.
Solution: First, make sure your TCM is calibrated. After doing so, if the problem is still there, an implement offset needs to be entered into your display. The implement often is either off center from the tractor or the implement naturally pulls to one side going through the field. This causes the tractor to be pulled to one side causing the wide and narrow middles.
3. Inconsistent wide and narrow rows
Problem: Rows start out correct on one end of field but as you go through the field, rows begin to get wide or narrow. After turning on end the rows are correct again, but then get wide or narrow once again as you travel to other end.
Solution: Most often you will see this problem if you run SF1 accuracy and are in long rows or traveling at slow speeds. The problem is satellite drift. The pass to pass accuracy is 15 minutes. As you travel long distances or take longer than 15 minutes to return to that point, you will see your tractor’s accuracy drift. The only real fix is to upgrade up to SF2 or to RTK. This will dramatically increase your accuracy and help eliminate the drift in your Autotrac. If you are running SF2, make sure your yearly subscription is active.
4. Acres with HarvestDoc on 2600 are not consistent with acres on combine Harvest Monitor
Problem: While harvesting and documenting harvest maps, the acres on the 2600 do not match the acres on the Harvest Monitor on the combine.
Solution: There is a software fix for this problem that just recently was released. Contact your salesman and make him aware that you need the new software. He will be glad to assist you.
5. Harvest Monitor on combine was showing correct yield, but is now showing incorrect yield
Problem: Dust or trash is most likely packed in behind the mass flow sensor in top of elevator.
Solution: Drop the elevator auger down and clean dust and residue out from behind mass flow sensor. |
